The term aquarium weight or paperweight is usually reserved for the large rectangular paperweights/sculptures made in Murano that depict underwater scenes with fish and other sea life (some of the most sought after examples were made by Cenedese and Alfredo Barbini). The use of the term can be broadly be used to describe any aquatic themed paperweight regardless of shape, size or complexity. |
